Boston
Over the last few months we have been able to visit Boston in two completely different seasons, one extremely cold and other very hot and humid. It's a wonderful city no matter what the weather as there is so much history and historic sites, plus we enjoyed the fact that it's a "walkable" city.
Cheri walks The Freedom Trail
Marriott points helped keep the cost down on both occasions and each time we had a great room on the top floor overlooking the city at The Copley Square hotel. One good thing was that the elevator took quite a while to reach the lobby. LOL
The Duck Tours are great if you don't fancy walking but we did not get the chance to go on one this time.
What a difference in temperature.
Many other famous people in Boston.
Boston Common, founded in 1634 is a great city park where you can ice skate in the winter or cool off in the summer, relax on the grass or walk the many pathways. Unfortunately there are not many places to shelter when a huge thunder and rain storm hits, as we found out. Even the trees don't help
Impressive buildings with a lot of history.

The Massachusetts State House with it's gold dome.

In Copley Square, The Boston Library and Trinity Church.

The Custom House, now a Marriott Hotel.
The Old North Church
Cheri loves her city walking maps. Where to now? How about the oldest pub in America Bell in Hand or the tourist trap "Cheers"?
New England Holocaust Memorial has six glass towers that represents the six million Jews who perished in the six main Nazi death camps.

A very touching memorial that brings tears and anger.

Cheri's Christmas Party dress added a sparkle to the tree in the hotel lobby and the party.

She looked fantastic in her Dolce & Gabana "wedding" dress.

We were able to spend a night outside of Boston at the very nice Wentworth by the Sea Marriott Resort & Spa.
Who is that waving to the camera?
We upgraded our boat again from the one in St. Martin as we needed a helicopter.
No $2 Happy Hour drinks at this Dinghy Dock Bar or even at the fancy hotel lounge.
Sometimes we like the simple and fun Hard Rock Cafes. The one in Boston has recently moved to a bigger location close to Faneuil Hall
For dinner in Boston there are so many restaurants to choose from but two of our favorites are Lucca on Hanover Street in the North End and Sasso on Huntington Avenue which is one block from the Copley Marriott Hotel.
Plenty of horse driven carriages in the city and we really fancied taking a ride on one but the heavens opened up once again and we had to dash in to The Hard Rock and buy a couple of dry shirts.
Good job we stayed out of the rain as Cheri would easily have won the wet T shirt contest.
We know there is so much more to see in Boston so hopefully we will return and be able to spend a few extra days walking around this historic and vibrant city.
