In 2004 we visited Berlin twice, the first time on Valentine's Day and then returned for a long weekend over New Year.  We were intrigued by this city because of it's history, the exciting growth and the nightlife
On both visits we stayed at The Berlin Marriott and we were upgraded to a wonderful suite and the hospitality they showed was first class, especially by Uwe, their concierge.
The Brandenburg Gate, The Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie were on our to see list.
We had also found out about a night club called The Kit Kat Club, which a very strict dress code: fetish, sexy or nothing....so the first time we went right down the middle.  On New Year, our second visit we knew what to expect. This is not the normal European Techno night club, the bartenders were wearing nothing but a belt and stockings and the partygoers were in leather, any kind of costume or a state of undress.
So we ventured to the club around midnight and in the smoky atmosphere we saw sexual activities  taking place everywhere.  The music got the party going around 1:00 am and the dance floor was full until at least 6:00 am when we left
For New Year we had to arrive before midnight to make sure we could get in and Cheri decided to go with a nearly the same dress code as our first visit but a little more risqué.
So the next morning we took the opportunity to get close with all the Berlin Bears that are around the city
We did a little more sight seeing, The Reichstag was very impressive despite the cold so we had to warm up with a couple of hot wine drinks at an ice bar by The Bradenburg Gate on New Years Day
Then it was off to see more sights of Berlin
Another great bar is Newton,(Helmut Newton) especially with life sized prints  on the back wall of some of the nude women he photographed. Very friendly bar staff too.
Dinner the first day of January was at the famous Paris restaurant but Cheri celebrated more in the room first
The Jewish Memorial was under construction while we were there, which was completed later in the year.
We have decided that we really need to spend more time in this city, hopefully we can get back when the weather is a little warmer
